Job Opportunity: English Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated English Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted good secondary school in Bramhall, Stockport. This full-time position starts in September and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance.

Role Overview:

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students and teachers in the English department. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and effective English lessons, providing support to individual students and small groups to enhance their learning experience.

  2. Literacy Development: Helping to improve students' literacy skills by providing targeted support in reading, writing, and comprehension activities.

  3. Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of lesson materials, resources, and displays to create a stimulating and supportive learning environment.

  4. Student Mentoring: Offering academic and pastoral support to students, helping them to build confidence and achieve their potential in English.

  5. Assessment Assistance: Supporting teachers in assessing students' work, providing constructive feedback, and tracking progress to inform future teaching.

  6. Extra-Curricular Activities: Participating in and supporting extra-curricular activities related to English, such as book clubs, writing workshops, and school productions.

  7. Collaboration: Working closely with teachers and other staff to develop and implement effective support strategies, ensuring a coordinated approach to student learning and development.

Requirements:

  • A recent degree in English or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for education and a desire to support young people in their academic and personal development.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic school environment.
  • Previous experience working with young people, either in a formal or informal setting, is desirable but not essential.
