Inverness, United Kingdom NHS Highland Full time

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Pharmacist to join the highly valued Medicines Management and Information Service in NHS Highland. In this new post, the successful candidate will share responsibility for leading the service with a colleague. Each of you will have an individual work portfolio which will enable service developments, quality improvement, and continue to provide the most effective patient care.

Candidates should have clinical experience and be able to answer complex medicine enquiries in clinical practice. Experience of providing a Medicine Management and Information Service to UKMI standards or equivalent training is desirable, but not essential. Face to face patient care will be provided by a clinical pharmacy commitment. There is some flexibility on which clinical area depending on the clinical experience and skills of the Pharmacist. We will work with you to find a good fit for you and the service.

Education and training for colleagues and other healthcare professionals will be an important element of this post to support others to develop lifelong skills for enquiry answering. Training requirements for pharmacy teams has changed in recent years, so an understanding of the new standards and a vision on how to deliver the training, particularly for Primary Care and Community Service teams, is preferable.

You will be a GPhC registered Pharmacist with excellent communication and inter-personal skills, and be able to work independently and effectively as part of a team. An independent prescribing qualification is desirable. You will be required to participate in an on-call rota (currently 1 in 25) and occasional weekend working and public holidays.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
