Job Opportunity: Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Levenshulme. This full-time position starts in September and continues until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' learning and development in mathematics. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Assist the class teacher in delivering high-quality maths lessons, providing individual and small-group support to students to help them understand mathematical concepts and improve their skills.
  2. Intervention Programs: Implement targeted intervention programs for students who require additional support, working closely with the maths department to identify and address gaps in learning.
  3. Homework Assistance: Help students with their homework and coursework, ensuring they understand the tasks and have the necessary skills to complete them successfully.
  4. Resource Preparation: Prepare and organize teaching materials and resources for maths lessons, ensuring they are accessible and engaging for all students.
  5. Progress Monitoring: Track and record students' progress in maths, providing feedback to teachers, students, and parents, and adjusting support strategies as needed.
  6. Exam Preparation: Assist students in preparing for maths exams and assessments, offering revision sessions, practice tests, and study tips to boost their confidence and performance.
  7. Classroom Management: Support the class teacher in maintaining a positive and productive classroom environment, using effective behaviour management strategies to encourage students' engagement and participation.
  8. Encouraging Enthusiasm: Foster a love of maths in students, using creative and interactive methods to make the subject interesting and enjoyable.
  9. Collaboration: Work closely with the maths department and other teaching assistants to share best practices and develop effective teaching strategies.
  10. Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and stay updated on the latest educational practices in mathematics.

Requirements:

  • A degree in mathematics or a related field, with a strong understanding of mathematical concepts and principles.
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and helping them achieve their full potential in maths.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • A proactive and flexible approach, with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic school environment.
  • Previous experience working with students, either in an educational setting or other relevant contexts, is highly desirable but not essential.
