Job Opportunity: Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated good secondary school in Didsbury. This is a full-time position starting ASAP and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance. The pay for this role ranges from £419.25 to £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting both students and teachers in the mathematics department. Your primary responsibilities will include:

Student Support:

  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students, helping them to understand mathematical concepts and improve their skills.
  • Assist students with homework, coursework, and exam preparation.
  • Use your subject knowledge to identify and address areas where students need additional support.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to the classroom teacher.

Classroom Assistance:

  • Support the classroom teacher in delivering engaging and effective mathematics lessons.
  • Help prepare learning materials and resources tailored to the needs of individual students.
  • Aid in managing classroom behaviour, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of interventions for students who require additional help.

Administrative Duties:

  • Help with classroom organisation and management.
  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of classroom displays and resources.
  • Support the teacher with marking and providing feedback on student work.

Extra-Curricular Activities:

  • Participate in and support school events and extra-curricular activities, particularly those related to mathematics.
  • Help organise and supervise educational trips and activities that enhance the learning experience.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and other staff members to support student learning and development.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers, providing updates on student progress when necessary.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions to enhance your skills and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics, with a strong academic record.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Previous experience working with young people, either in a school setting or through voluntary work, is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
