Haslemere, United Kingdom Pact Coffee Full time

Who we are:

Pact Coffee works with the world’s finest farmers to bring outstanding speciality coffee to UK consumers at a fair price, whilst improving lives and safeguarding farmers’ futures at origin.

For over 10 years, we’ve been changing the industry from the ground up. We are intent on building long-term relationships with farmers that flourish. By putting the needs of farmers at origin first, rather than market investors, we can provide UK consumers with a quality of speciality coffee they won’t find anywhere else.

Pact Coffee is a B Corporation with a carbon-neutral roastery, and all our packaging is fully recyclable. Our focus on sustainability extends to the farmers we work with, many of whom champion planet-first practices.

Welcome to better coffee. Better for farmers, better for the planet, and better for you.

The role:

We're looking for an Operations & Logistics Manager, a pivotal role within our fast-paced Roastery in Surrey that continues to enjoy year on year growth.

You will be responsible for managing the third party production process, end to end packaging including development, sampling, COGs, procurement and quality control. With a keen eye for detail, you will source & procure new hardware products in line with business requirements for launch, whilst planning and executing successful seasonal launches.

  • Manage third party operations for the production of longer life coffee products
  • Devise and implement logistics strategies as part of new grocery / wholesale customer set up that supports launch volumes, whilst maximising business margins
  • Minimise cash tied up in inventory for grocery / wholesale customers when minimum order quantity (MOQ) 3rd party volumes are in excess of new customer launch requirements.
  • Understand and plan for the implications of storage space availability and product Best Before End (BBE) dates when planning to hold product for various lower volume orders
  • Source packaging suppliers in line with business requirements for the launch of new products, managing the communication between business stakeholders and suppliers with artwork / sampling and sign off and production
  • Manage the third-party logistics freight forwarders for collection and delivery into Grocery and Wholesaler, consolidating with our mainline procurement items for cost and green efficiencies where possible

Procurement New Products / Customer Experience Improvement

  • Source new hardware products in line with the product brief for review and sign off.
  • Establish the supplier relationship, negotiating costs and understanding breakpoints, product availability, lead times etc.
  • Select packaging suppliers to go out to tender for new packaging requirements, new product boxes / gift boxes etc. Manage the process from design team brief to sampling, cost of goods sold (COGS), impact on Production Operations and delivery for launch.
  • Continuously seeking improvement by reviewing the packaging range in line with changing products sold / bundles etc, identifying and implementing alternatives to maximise box fill, minimise packaging wastage and improve the customer experience on delivery arrival
  • Devise packing guidelines and deliver training for the production operations team ensuring consistency of customer experience

Seasonal / Promotional Activities

  • Plan and own the full logistics & operations schedule (project plan) for Christmas & all promotional / seasonal events, working in conjunction with operations / business stakeholders who have their own individual areas of responsibility
  • Work with packaging suppliers to source required seasonal / promotional products within the business margin targets

Requirements

You’ll be perfect for the role if you have:

  • at least three to five years of experience in operations management, project management or similar roles.
  • good data analysis, planning and organisational skills.
