Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the right candidates to join the paediatric liaison team at Sheffield Children's Foundation Trust based at NGH and CCDH.

We have 2 posts available in our small team, a full-time post based at NGH working Monday to Friday and a part time post ( hours a week over 3 days). All team members may be required to visit and cover other sites from time to time.

The role of paediatric liaison nurse is integral in facilitating effective and robust communication between the acute trusts and colleagues working in the community. The post holder with play a central role in promoting family centred assessment, early identification and intervention and appropriate referrals for vulnerable children, young people, and families in Sheffield and across the region. The post holder will be part of a team of nurses who have a significant role in the safeguarding and protection of children and young people. The job will be based in the main sites that we cover across the city. The post holder will be a compassionate, accountable individual who treats all colleagues, patients and service users with respect and seeks to deliver excellence in their role. The post holder will be a key member of the 0-19 Service, Paediatric Liaison Nursing Team who provide key information about children and young people and families who attend the acute sites across the city.

Main duties of the job

Contribute to the multi-agency assessment, early identification and appropriate referral and support, of vulnerable children and families who present in the acute health care setting Work as a strategic communicator and facilitator in ensuring safeguarding issues are addressed in a well-timed way. Support clinical staff in the sites we cover, helping them to understand the importance of referring into the service, supporting them to identify and make those referrals. Work closely with the safeguarding teams in each of the sites that we cover, attending regular meetings to discuss vulnerable children and families.

The successful applicant will need to have excellent IT skills and effectively utilise a variety of clinical systems and Microsoft office applications.

The Paediatric Liaison Nurse will be responsible for: Positively representing of the service and the Sheffield Children's Foundation Trust Effectively communication is maintained Identifying safeguarding concerns and escalating Training and supporting staff Effective time management, working independently Ensure accurate and timely documentation in kept Effectively deal with enquiries Delivery of the Care of Next Infant Scheme. Maintaining NMC professional obligations and training requirements. Work within Trust guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

Essential

Registered General Nurse and/or Registered Sick Children's Nurse Degree qualification or equivalent Current NMC Registration Appropriate and up to date safeguarding children training Evidence of continuous professional development
