About the role
This skincare role within the pivotal Product Development department will be focused on over-seeing all skincare NPD developments + collaborating on the creative conceptualization of all innovations.
This role will collaborate with PM and Scientific development, giving strategic direction and expert guidance. They will have the ability to delegate and coach along the way while keeping the team motivated and acting as timeline and innovation guardian for projects. Along their team, the director will be responsible for delivering innovation to the brand and ensuring the smooth delivery of high quality, commercial skincare developments, in line with agreed timelines. A proven track record in delivering hero products is essential.
As our NPD Director for Skincare, you will
- Lead the category to secure best in class innovation
- Work with CPO and Skincare GM to build product roadmap/development plans to ensure a well- rounded calendar at a global and regional level
- Experience in SPF development and good understanding of global regulations
- Managing all EPD renovations at pace, in readiness to hand over to Supply chain
- Fuel NPD skincare calendar with innovative product conceptualization
- Presenting to founder
- Responsible for consistent skincare innovation scoping and sourcing at tradeshows and in market with a focus on pin-pointing commercial opportunities for the brand + industry-leading innovation inspirations – then presenting regularly with the team
- Work closely with Brand Marketing to develop strategic planning of 3 year local rolling innovation aligned with business goals, taking initiative to regularly present market trends and innovation.
- Working cross-functionally and internationally to drive ideas from conception to execution, segmenting customers and territories and developing the right product proposition.
- Oversee project management of multiple CPAs (20+ projects) and people, to deliver key product launches from concept, throughout development to launch, assessing needs and mitigating risk at each stage through clear communication and action plan alignment cross functionally.
- Working closely with Scientific Director on ingredients and testing suitability for NPD projects - assessing risks and aligning with desired claims and approved brief
- Involvement in relevant business strategy forums + retailer ITK meetings with Senior Business roles as and when appropriate
- Representing the product development team in all communications with marketing, sales, creative and often leadership team - ability to present / founder facing.
- Delivery of projects on time and within budget – escalating and problem-solving with CPO as needed Ability to influence in high pressure situations.
- Skilled at efficient process management and implementation - responsible for ensuring team is effectively working with all business systems and trackers, championing process developments within team
- Working with procurement and team to identify the right suppliers for each project, ensuring innovation remains at the forefront.

About you
- Extensive and proven experience of skincare within beauty/luxury industry.
- Good understanding of global preferences, trends and tendencies.
- Ability to inspire, influence and galvanize the team
- Ability to delegate, oversee and lead a project
- Analytical – using data to drive decisions. Creative vision, commercially minded.
- Strong interpersonal skills and inclusive management style.
- Self-motivated, eloquent and dedicated to the brand – a positive member of Team Tilbury
- Excellent organisational and communication skills
- Strong research skills
- Experience with sales data and analysis
- Have a passion for and knowledge of the beauty industry – brands, products, bloggers and influencers
- Skills using Microsoft programmes such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
