Edinburgh, United Kingdom FNZ Group Full time

Description

The objective of the 2nd line risk team is to deliver, coordinate and continuously develop an effective framework that provides the tools to enable FNZ to identify, assess, control and monitor risk and through that framework manage risk within the appetite of the business, our clients, and regulators.

The Risk Business Partner brings both experience and knowledge of operational risk management tools and frameworks demonstrated through practical experience and achievements in similar roles. As FNZ is an asset services platform business, the role requires knowledge of investment operations, the trading life cycle, and the risks that may arise.

This 2nd line risk role will support the implementation and maintenance of the Risk Management Framework to support FNZ’s business plan and the regulatory environment it operates in. This includes provision of oversight of the application of risk management policies and procedures and working with the business to facilitate the understanding and embedding of these within FNZ.

The duties and responsibilities of this role will include the following:

Providing support and challenge to key business stakeholders in implementing FNZ risk management reporting and responding to regulatory or internal change.

Representing Second Line risk at the appropriate governance committees of FNZ (including the Asset Servicing Risk Committee).

Working with First Line risk colleagues to ensure a robust and timely risk event, risk reporting and control self-assessment framework.

Performing daily reviews of all newly reported Risk Events and requesting further information where required.

Assisting in the design and delivery of an effective, risk assurance programme.

Preparing monthly Risk Management report content for submission to the Enterprise Risk Committee and the UK Board.

Ensuring there are robust risk management processes in place for significant and business critical change projects.

Evaluating the risk exposure relating to new business activities.

Ensuring that the suite of risk management policies is embedded in core processes and individual roles within Asset Servicing.

Overseeing the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) framework including relevant management reporting on the adequacy and effectiveness of operational controls throughout Asset Servicing.

Attending monthly ‘First Line Risk Forum’ meetings for the various Asset Servicing teams, providing updates on Risk Management Framework Developments, upcoming assurance activities, and challenging the attendees regarding risk profiles, control environments and emerging risks.

Using the Governance, Risk & Compliance system (Archer) to support the risk management oversight of Asset Servicing.

Experience Required

Previous experience in a senior Second Line or First Line risk management role, ideally within an Asset or Fund Management business.

Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills, with the ability to translate and simplify risk management language when dealing with non-risk personnel.

Knowledge of industry risk management best practice.

Ability to understand and articulate the commercial benefits of effective risk management.

Ability to analyse, present and report risk management information to senior stakeholders.

Working knowledge of FCA, Data Privacy regulation and Financial Crime regulations (beneficial, not essential).
