Travel Trade Executive 

Birmingham Airport is the UK’s seventh largest airport with 30 airlines serving over 120 destinations direct and onwards to over 400. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic 13m customers a year flew in and out of BHX. Going forward we project growth to more than 18m customers a year by 2033 – by which time we will be connectedto centralLondon by HS2 trains in just 37 minutes and aim to have become a net zero carbon airport.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Aviation Director, this role will maintain and develop relationships with business/leisure sales teams of our airline partners, the regional corporate community, the travel trade, tour operators and external stakeholders, e.g. WMGC, Shakespeare’s England, Visit Britain, etc.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

 Relationship and Reputation

A team player

Create, maintain and grow relationships with airline sales teams in the UK – understanding their products and targets and coordinating their marketing activity to the regions travel trade/corporate community.Create, maintain and grow relationships with Online Travel Agents (OTAs), Consortiums and Consolidators to ensure airline partners are actively being promoted to the travel trade within the region.Create, maintain and grow relationships with key corporates, SME’s and TMC’s within the Birmingham city and region through a field sales visit programmePro-actively seek and introduce new corporates and SME’s to Birmingham AirportPro-actively seek and introduce new tour operators to our airline partners to support load factor uplift.Create and facilitate b2b marketing campaigns and trade/corporate events with/for airline partners focusing on new route promotion, load factor uplift and general awareness.Support airline sales teams with their regional sales missions and airport tours as necessary.Develop an understanding of internal stakeholders’ purposes and support where appropriate.

Collate airline performance and trade sales data to deliver reports to the Aviation team that will be measured against Birmingham Airport’s Growth pillar.Collate travel data from the region’s corporates and SMEs to support airline pitch documentsCreation of innovative marketing and incentive campaigns that reflect the changing nature of the airline distribution to the travel trade.Maintain and update Birmingham Airport’s aviation sales contacts database.Ensure the relevant Social Media platforms are consistently updated with new content and are reaching as many agents as possible.Create and update aviation team presentations keeping the content relevant and professionalAdditional administrative responsibilities within the Aviation team.

Promote safety culture within the department

Ensure Health and Safety needs of the Aviation department are met through adherence to agreed policies and procedures.Always follow agreed off site working practices.

To maintain a proactive dialogue with internal and external customers, responding to feedback appropriately and efficiently, to maximise customer satisfaction Promote company values and act as one of Birmingham Airport’s representatives at a variety of Airport, Airline, Corporate and Travel Trade events and exhibitions.

Flexibility

The role is largely office based; however, the role will require the flexibility to undertake out-of-hours and weekend working in relation to and in pursuance of the post.
