Park Medical Centre would like to appoint a receptionist to join our friendly team. We are looking for part time receptionist, for hours pw.
This position will be 8:00am to 6:00pm on a Friday.

Main duties of the job
Greet and direct patients including booking in patients (if they are unable to use the automated system) and effectively deal with queries from patients and external companies/providers.
Provide general assistance to the Practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors, either in person or via the telephone act as a focal point of communication between patients, doctors and other medical and clerical staff.
Undertake a variety of administrative duties to assist in the smooth running of the practice including the provision of clerical support to clinical staff and other members of the practice team.
Covering for colleagues when on holiday or off sick.
To attend staff and team meetings as necessary.
To provide reception cover for extended hours opening as requested.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is providedto patients and any other visitors to the Practice
Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make newand follow-up appointments or direct to online triage.
Ensure patients are kept informed of any likely delays.
Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to newpatients and those seeking temporary cover and ensure procedures are completed.
Receive and make telephone calls as required. Divert calls and take messages, ensuringaccuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
Process repeat prescription requests om accordance with practice protocol. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts for same. Register new patients ensuring all forms are completed. Enter patient information on to the computer as required. Premises:o Open up premises at the start of the day whenfirst to arrive, de-activate alarm and make all necessary preparations toreceive patients.
o When last to leave at the end of the day,ensure the building is totally secured, internal lights are off, check phones areoff and the alarm activated when other employees are not available.
Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners or Management Team. Ensure that the practice complaints and comments procedures are followed and that all patients comments are registered and dealt with appropriately and inform the management team. Support with the quality and outcome framework (QOF), flu clinics and enhanced service targets as and when requested.TRAINING AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Trainingrequirements will be monitored by a one, three and six monthly reviewinitially, followed by a yearly appraisal with the Reception Supervisor.
Personaldevelopment will be encouraged and supported by the Practice in line withservice needs.
On-goingday to day administration support from the Reception Supervisor and reception team.
Ifit is necessary to expand the role to include additional responsibilities,further training will be considered;
Developand maintain a Personal Learning Plan within an appraisal programme
Quality:
Thereceptionist will strive to maintain quality within the Practice, and will:
Alert other team members to issues of quality and risk Assess own performance and take accountability for own actions, either directly or under supervision Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and making suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the teams performance Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients needs Effectively manage own time, workload and resources A dress code is in place. Thepost-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and othershealth, safety and security as defined in the Practice Health & SafetyPolicy, to include:
Comply with the practices health and safety policy, in particular by following agreed safe working procedures and report incidents using the practice incident reporting system Awareness of national standard in infection control and health and safety Maintain clean working environment Ensure safe management of sharps, storage and disposal in accordance with local policy Ensure correct waste disposal for handling, segregation and container use Ensuring the correct use personal protective equipment (PPE) personally and of others to ensure high standards of infection control are maintained Identify any work areas of improvement in relation to infection control and health and safety, report and correction of remedial action where required. Ensure hand hygiene standards for self and others are maintained Identify any risks involved in work activities and undertake procedures in a way that manages those risks Ensure up to date with statutory and mandatory training including health and safety and Infection control.
