Job summary

We are recruiting to our Community Rehabilitation Service in the Taunton and West Somerset Neighbourhood, providing physical rehabilitation to our community patients across this area. We work in a collaborative way with patients, other agencies and the voluntary sector within our local neighbourhood.

We have two bases within the Neighbourhood, One, based on the edge of Taunton near the M5 Junction, covers community rehab work only. The other, at Minehead Hospital, has a bedded rehab unit, as well as community rehab patients to be seen. You will be expected to provide cover across both areas as required but be predominantly based at the Taunton site.

The team consists of OTs, Physiotherapists, Clinical Specialists, Assistant Practitioners, Apprentices, Rehabilitation Assistants and a Pharmacy Technician. This position will provide the opportunity for you to develop holistic cognitive, environmental and functional assessment skills in the community across a variety of conditions. You will also develop your clinical supervision and delegation skills, rehabilitation and clinical skills, deepen your knowledge base and strengthen your clinical reasoning in a structured, supportive environment.

Main duties of the job

Provide a high standard of Occupational Therapy within the Rehabilitation services. Participate in the development of the Rehabilitation Service in the community and within the Community hospital bedded environments. To provide advice regarding the rehabilitation management of patients to families, carers and other members of the MDT. Provide support, guidance and training to Senior Rehabilitation assistants, Rehabilitation Assistants and students. Responsibility for a caseload of complex patients within both the community and the community hospital bedded environments. Act as Clinical Supervisor and undertake Managerial Supervision, including Appraisal, for Band 5 Occupational Therapists and Rehabilitation Assistants.

Essential

Degree or diploma level education leading to Registration by the Health Professions Council as an Occupational Therapist. Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at relevant post grad courses.
