Senior Digital Clinical Safety Officer

Job summary
The post holder will oversee Digital Clinical Safety for the Trust, ensuring efficient management and compliance with national clinical safety standards.
Responsibilities include providing leadership, assessing clinical safety in IT procurement and implementation, and mitigating clinical hazards.
The CSO will be the primary authority on digital system safety, ensuring adherence to NHS Digital Information Standards.
A qualified healthcare professional with experience in clinical safety and healthcare IT systems is required for this role.
Main duties of the job
Assist in service development for compliance with information standards.
Conduct clinical risk assessments of health digital systems.
Collaborate with stakeholders to improve services based on clinical outcomes.
Provide leadership and specialist expertise across the Trust.
Liaise with digital teams and suppliers to ensure up-to-date safety evidence for health digital systems.
Develop and maintain documentation related to Clinical Risk Management.
Keep a register of qualified Clinical Safety Officers.
Plan regular reviews of clinical safety processes.
Coordinate documentation for digital Clinical Risk Management and produce reports.
Act as a liaison between digital, suppliers, and clinical staff to identify risks.
Produce clinical safety reports for health digital systems.
Communicate risk evaluations and recommendations to senior management.
Present complex information effectively in various settings.
Assess risks associated with health digital systems.
Recommend actions regarding risk acceptability.
Conduct root cause analyses of safety incidents.
Implement and review Clinical Risk Management SOPs.
Contribute to SOPs for new health digital systems.
Maintain clinical qualifications and accreditation as a Clinical Safety Officer.
Participate in the Clinical Safety Officer network and review safety cases from partner organisations.

Essential
Nursing or Allied Health Professional degree or diploma with appropriate statutory professional body registration Maintains a portfolio of CPD in line with regulatory body standards Membership of NHSD Clinical Safety Officer community of interest
Desirable
Post graduate learning to Masters level or equivalent Training in risk assessment and safety management of clinical information system Teaching, training or mentorship qualification or experience to an equivalent level Leadership and management qualification

Essential
Highly specialist assessment, planning and evaluation skills demonstrated in clinical experience Highly developed specialist clinical knowledge to support the development and use of digital technology, including electronic patient records, across a range of clinical settings Advanced verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills including communicating complex information to others and managing conflict when appropriate Experience of leading the application of clinical governance and quality measures in practice Be highly knowledgeable in risk management and its application to clinical domains
