Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic physiotherapist to join the Children's and Adult Learning Disability Physiotherapy team as part of a children's rotation, based within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. The successful applicant will be a clinician who has previously had some experience within Paediatrics and or Adults with Learning Disabilities and would like to continue their clinical development in this area.

We are looking for a self-motivated and forward thinking clinician who is a strong team player with the ability to demonstrate leadership qualities and excellent communication skills. Possessing a solid foundation in core clinical skills you will embrace innovation and be committed to following evidence based clinical practice.

The post will require the successful candidate to work from one of four bases, and will be expected to rotate around these bases on a yearly basis depending on the needs of the service. These bases will be Serennu Children's Centre in Newport, Caerphilly Children's Centre, Nevill Hall Children's Centre in Abergavenny and the MSK transformation Hub in Cleppa park Newport.

The successful candidate will be responsible for a caseload of Children and Young people working within the community, clinic and education setting. The successful applicant will be required to move between sites within Gwent.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for a community caseload that will be mixed speciality including going into mainstream and specialist ALN schools and triaging primary care MSK referrals, you will therefore need to have a broad knowledge and some experience of treating a variety of conditions in 0-18 year olds across the specialities of development, neurology, respiratory, rheumatology, MSK, T&O and complex needs.

You will need to be able to communicate with education staff, members of the multi-disciplinary team and families and write appropriate reports and letters.

You will need to be organised, have a flexible approach and show initiative where needed and be a team player to meet the needs of the service.

Additional responsibilities will include:

to contribute to the implementation of changes within the work area in conjunction with other senior staff, to clinically mentor and supervise support workers to be involved with students as a clinical educator to contribute to the delivery of the in service training programme to actively participate in audit

Diploma/degree in Physiotherapy Registered with Health and Care professionals Council Relevant clinical educators course or willing to undertake training Appropriate range of Post grad clinical education

MCSP Active participant in relevant interest group

Experience

Broad range of post grad clinical experience, including rotational experience Specific experience in specialty applied for Experience of participating in and delivering in-service training programmes Experience of supervising staff
