Job overview

This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse or physiotherapist with critical care experience to work on a large research programme aiming to improve recovery following discharge from ICU. The ERACC (Enhanced Recovery After Critical Care) project aims to develop and test an enhanced care pathway for patients discharged from ICU, with the aim of improving their recovery and rehabilitation. The post holder will be involved with all aspects of delivering the programme of clinical research, including conducting literature reviews, recruitment of study participants, qualitative and quantitative data collection, associated administration and training. The clinical researcher will support the Principal Investigators and co-investigators of the study. There may be opportunity to undertake a funded PhD as part of this role.

Main duties of the job

The primary roles of the post include:

· Undertaking systematic literature reviews

· Working with a wide range of stakeholders contributing to the project

· Acting as a clinical role model when liaising with study site personnel

· Recruiting participants to studies within the project

· Conducting qualitative interviews and ethnographic observations, and analysing data.

· Collecting and recording research data and documentation accurately and in a timely manner

· Writing up results for peer review and funder reports.

· Reporting problems and issues with the research studies to the appropriate person in a timely manner, and identifying solutions

· This role will involve travel to and data collection at multiple study sites
