Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for keen and reliable individuals to join our teams within the In-Patient Main Theatres department caters for 19 Theatres which include Emergency Theatres, Obstetric Theatres, Vascular Theatres, Paediatric and ENT Theatres and a range of Multi-specialty Theatres.

Main theatres are committed to delivering outstanding care to our patients throughout their perioperative journey. Individuals need a high level of organisation and the ability to be dynamic with the ever changing workload.

We are looking for individuals who promote the Trust PRIDE values and demonstrate a caring and compassionate approach to patient care. HCA experience is desirable but not essential. As a department we value all of our team members and are committed in the promotion and development of staff development.

You will be expected to attend and complete a Trust induction program.

Main duties of the job

Key Aspects of the Role include but are not exclusive to:

Transferring patients between wards, Theatres and PACU departments

Assisting in the care of the surgical patient during the peri-operative period by supporting the multidisciplinary team.

Supporting our PACU practitioners in providing a safe, high quality environment for the carrying out of surgical procedures by:

Assisting our team with procedures such as meeting patient's hygiene needs when required. Providing support in the management of our 'wardable patient' area. Assisting the PACU team in the preparation of the post-operative environment Assisting in the general upkeep and maintenance of stock levels in Recovery Providing a safe environment ensuring the highest quality of patient care is provided. Developing specialised skills which will include blood gas sampling and ECG recordings Have a fully flexible approach to working

Job responsibilities

To accurately and promptly carry out the instructions of the Registered Practitioner who is professionally accountable for the delivery of care To deliver care and carry out duties as specified within the Trusts Approved core task list for Healthcare Assistants To report to Registered Practitioner any patient who gives cause for concern or any observed changes in the patients condition To respond appropriately to clinical emergencies to ensure the patient receives appropriate care To participate in the admission process under the supervision of the Registered Practitioner Provide and deliver a high standard of individualised personal nursing care To report all care that has been given to patients within the team to a Registered Practitioner Transfer patients to and from Theatre complex, moving beds in the accompaniment of a Registered Practitioner To accurately document all care delivered to patients, countersigned by a Registered Practitioner maintaining confidentiality at all times To assist in the preparation of patients and equipment for treatment, investigations or procedures as directed by the Registered Practitioner To keep the clinical area clean and tidy maintaining a safe environment
