Job summary

Due to long term sickness, we are looking to recruit a Head of Specialist Services.

Specialist support is required to cover operational Estates and Facilities functions including compliance, governance and contracts. The post is advertised initially for a 3 month period however, may be extended.

Main duties of the job

Lead and Manage the Estates Specialist Services to ensure all estates operational requirements meet statutory, mandatory and NHS requirements. This requires the formulation of the long term strategic estates plans to be flexible and adapt to the changing needs of the Trust to ensure and efficient and safe environment is maintained across the Trust and Partners.

To be the professional lead for Estates Specialist Services.

To support the Director in the development and delivery of the estates plan aligned to the Facilities and Estates Strategy as approved by the Trust Board.

To review Estates and Facilities service provision for out of area buildings and set up new contracts as appropriate.

To establish a formal contract for the retained estate maintenance on our Haywood Hospital site

To provide professional estates advice as required enabling the Trust to plan for future capacity requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING

Essential

Specialist professional knowledge via a degree or equivalent in building or engineering Managerial qualification with additional knowledge such as that acquired through post graduate courses and experience to masters level In depth knowledge and experience of managerial, H&S and financial aspects of Estates Operational Services Evidence of continuing professional development

Desirable

Masters or post graduate degree Previous knowledge of the NHS including the modernisation agenda Health and Safety training and qualifications NEBOSH certificate and/or construction safety Corporate Membership of recognised professional institution relevant to the role such as RICS, RIBA, CIBSE, etc

EXPERIENCE

Essential

Extensive knowledge and experience of managing Estates operational services Demonstrable relevant experience within a similar role Effective management of programmes and budget Managing staff Delivering change management

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES

Essential
