Who We Are

ESA is a 100% employee-owned environmental consulting firm delivering work that matters.

We plan, design, permit, mitigate, and restore—for projects across our communities, infrastructure systems, open spaces, and wildlands.

Our scientists, planners, historians, archaeologists, engineers, designers, and technical specialists provide critical thinking, in-depth analyses, and committed follow-through to guide successful policy development and project planning and deliver enduring multi-objective solutions.

At ESA, we believe every employee has a unique combination of knowledge, skills, and experience that contributes to our success.

We value diversity and inclusion and celebrate the differences that make each of us unique. Our culture is built on mutual respect, recognizing that the collective sum of our differences and life experiences fosters our continued success and achievement, for our employee-owners and our clients.

Collaborating with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives leads to better solutions and opportunities for everyone. We celebrate the differences—age, color, physical ability, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, language, national origin, race, religion, veteran status, and other characteristics—that make each of us unique.

Who You Are

A Proposal Coordinator with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in Southern California who is seeking an opportunity to learn and share innovative ideas. You can work collaboratively with department members and internal clients to identify, research, and evaluate marketing opportunities.

You can complete day-to-day tasks in a fast-paced environment and maintain a commitment to high-quality deliverables. You are proactive and detail oriented and able to work individually and as part of a team.

You thrive in a collaborative environment and possess exemplary communication skills. You have exceptional writing and oral presentation skills.

You are an effective collaborator able to collect and coalesce information from various technical teams to produce persuasive proposals, compelling content, and marketing collateral for clients, agency staff, teaming partners, and other interested parties.

You hold an associate degree in marketing, Journalism, Communications, English, or a related field. A bachelor's degree is preferable but not required. Additional years of experience can be considered instead of a degree.

You have strong MS Office Suite skills and are knowledgeable in Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator).

You are looking for the opportunity to work with a team of planners, scientists and engineers, biologists, archaeologists, and designers who share your passion for sustainability and nature.

Experienced working in the A/E/C industry is highly preferred but not required.

What You Will Do for ESA

In this role, you will support the Southern California Region to meet and exceed our annual acquisition goals. You will do this by assisting in the creation and coordination of multi-discipline proposals as specified in ESA’s Strategic, Market, and Regional Business Plans in collaboration with technical teams.

You will thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environment and be able to manage multiple responsibilities and deadlines while working on a team or independently.

You will help streamline and monitor the client management process. You will receive, review, and distribute marketing leads for pursuit.

Assist with data collection and records management for proposal, project, personnel, clients, and teaming partner information using CRM software; generate reports as needed. Maintain internal qualifications and resume-library.

Assist with prime and sub-consultants for pursuits and participate in and coordinate short-list interview preparation.

Participate in regular marketing and business development meetings. You will support opportunity tracking and identify strategic cross-discipline and/or cross-regional marketing opportunities. You will assist with strategic marketing programs and plans of action including conference and event participation.

What ESA Will Do for You

Joining ESA means becoming part of a close-knit team of environmental professionals for whom every day involves career growth, learning, creativity, fun, and the satisfaction of knowing that you have contributed to outstanding iconic projects, improved environmental stewardship, and advanced a more sustainable and resilient future for our communities and wild places.

At ESA, we spend our days helping to keep the environment in balance, and we want to help keep your life in balance, too by providing medical, dental & vision insurance (paid at 70% for you AND your family), a 401(k) plan with company match, paid vacation, sick leave and holidays to name a few.

No matter what stage you are at in your career, we provide opportunities for continued growth, development, and recognition. Whether you want to further your technical expertise, sharpen your business acumen, or help lead the next generation of employee-owners, we want to support you in reaching your career goals, and we believe these efforts will not only benefit you, but will also benefit all ESA colleagues and clients. Specific programs we offer include tuition reimbursement, professional development bonuses, and attendance at conferences.

ESA has established multiple pay ranges tailored to the economic factors in the geographies in which ESA staff reside. For this position, the range is approximately $ –$ per hour based on our anticipated hiring locations as noted in the above job details. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including but not limited to an individual’s related experience, education, skills, and the city in which the applicant lives.

What’s Special About Our Southern California Marketing Team

The Southern California Marketing team encourages humor and a collaborative spirit in all that it does. Though independently leading tasks, we work as a team to support the region. Outside of day-to-day coordination, we host regular gatherings, virtually and in person, quarterly “huddles” to discuss regional trends, refine best management practices, host regular industry training, and connect as a team.

In accordance with ESA’s duty and responsibility to provide and maintain a safe workplace that is free of known hazards and to minimize exposure to potential hazards, any employee who works from an ESA office or conducts any other in-person ESA work-related activity is required to submit their proof of vaccination status or have received an approved exemption and accommodation.
