International Directories Manager

Based in London, the International Directories Manager will have primary responsibility to prepare and draft submissions designed to increase the external rankings and recognition for the firm’s non-US offices in Europe, Asia, Middle East and Latin America, as well as provide support for US directories and submissions.
The ideal candidate will have excellent writing, editing and analytical skills. The candidate must be able to craft compelling submissions that effectively communicate the firm’s experience and expertise to decision makers. She/he must also have strong interpersonal skills to work collaboratively and authoritatively with lawyers and directory editors/researchers.
This role reports to the Chief Communications Officer and work closely with the Associate Director, Directories to oversee the firm’s participation in directories, surveys, rankings and other similar publications in the legal industry.
Responsibilities include:
Drafting compelling directory/awards submissions for the firm, practices and individuals. Overseeing and assisting in setting up directory interviews. Organizing calendar systems to track and manage deadlines. Developing and maintaining relationships with directory editors/researchers to gain insight into the evaluating and ranking process. Tracking and analyzing results and making recommendations for improvement. Providing leadership and support on directory matters, including sharing best practices, ensuring quality and consistency, and developing and implementing recommendations for improvement. Assisting with the firm’s responses to surveys/awards programmes from legal industry publications and business publications. Drafting accolades content for the firm’s intranet and web site. Manage and provide mentorship to junior team members.
Qualifications
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of research process for directories and surveys. Possess excellent writing/editing/proof-reading skills and be able to communicate in a persuasive and concise manner. Have solid understanding of practice areas and legal industry. Be extremely detail-oriented and have excellent organizational skills. Be able to multi-task and juggle competing deadlines. Have a proven ability to structure and maintain a large quantity of data. Possess strong interpersonal skills to work with practice group chairs and lawyers. and to develop/maintain relationships with the directory and publication researchers. Have a highly professional demeanour with the ability to deliver executive-level communication and presentations. Be able to quickly and proactively identify and analyze problems, develop solutions and deliver results. Able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment independently and as part of a highly collaborative team. Demonstrate leadership and people development skills.
Experience
Bachelor of Arts degree or higher in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or other communications-related field is preferred. Minimum five years of experience in the field of legal marketing or communications. Experience in a law firm or other professional service firm experience and as a directory researcher or editor are preferred.-
