Carlisle, United Kingdom University of Cumbria Full time

We are the University of Cumbria , for and from Cumbria and our localities, rooted in serving our communities, with people, place and partnership at our heart.

Now is a very exciting time to be joining us because we are delivering a new "Towards 2030" strategic plan focused on making the most of our three most valuable assets; People, Place and Partnerships , to become a catalyst for economic well-being for our region, nationally and internationally.

The Institute of Education, Arts and Society is a newly established institute within the University of Cumbria. We are currently developing our portfolio of Degree Level Apprenticeships and are seeking to recruit a Senior Lecturer who will take on the Programme Leadership for this area.

We are excited to be launching our Creative Digital Design Professional Degree Apprenticeship for 2024-25. We are developing a Digital User Experience (UX) Professional Degree Level Apprenticeship for 2025-26. You will lead in the design, delivery, employer liaison and management of the Digital Apprenticeship portfolio. You will have experience of learning and teaching in the visual communication subject areas and have experience of leading academic teams in the Higher Education sector. You will work alongside other academics in the undergraduate Arts provision and collaborate in and contribute to the delivery of the wider arts portfolio.

The role will involve regular meetings with apprentices and their employers to provide support and advice and to monitor progress against the apprenticeship standards. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. The role holder will be based at the Brampton Road Campus in Carlisle.

You will: work as part of a team developing and delivering high quality academic provision, taking a lead role in certain areas as required (e.g. course leadership); implement teaching and learning, widening participation and other strategies in order to effect the provision of high quality learning and opportunities and the best possible student experience; be involved in appropriate external activities including employer engagement activity; and engage in subject, professional and pedagogy research as required to support teaching activities and to extend, transform and apply knowledge acquired from scholarship to teaching and research as appropriate.

You will be part of the academic team in creative arts and media and be supported by our University of Cumbria Apprenticeship Management Team, and we welcome applications from individuals that have experience of leading programmes in HE and from those that have learning and teaching experience in visual communication, creative digital design and UX/UI design. You will be confident, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Degree Level Apprenticeships. You will be professional in liaising with and engaging employers and dedicated to supporting apprentices and managing the quality assurance aspects of Degree Level Apprenticeships.
