Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team and provide crucial support to children in Year 1 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a full-time position in our vibrant and inclusive mainstream primary school, starting after the October half-term or as soon as possible.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide tailored, 1:1 support for children with ASD to help them access the curriculum and fully engage in classroom activities.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and adapting resources to meet the specific needs of each child.
  • Support children with ASD in managing their social and emotional development, promoting positive behaviour and communication.
  • Work closely with the SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator) and external specialists to deliver personalised learning strategies.
  • Foster a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment where children feel supported and confident in their learning.
  • Assist with general classroom duties and provide additional help where needed to support the wider class.
Key Requirements:
  • Minimum Level 2 qualification in a relevant field (e.g., Supporting Teaching and Learning, Childcare, or SEND).
  • Experience working with children with ASD or other special educational needs in a primary school setting.
  • A strong understanding of child development, particularly in supporting children with additional needs in their early years.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to meeting the needs of individual children.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive school environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
