SEMH Teaching Assistant – (Secondary)

Location: Ashington, Northumberland, Newcastle
Salary: £80 to £95 per Day
Start Date: September 2024
Contract Type: Temporary

Beginning in September 2024, GSL Education will be hiring a SEMH Teaching Assistant – (Secondary) for a client school located in Ashington, Northumberland, Newcastle. This role involves providing vital support to students dealing with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant – (Secondary), you will collaborate closely with experienced educators to deliver personalized assistance in both one-on-one and small group settings. Your support will be crucial in fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant – (Secondary), your role will involve:

  • Assisting teachers in the classroom with students who have SEMH needs
  • Supporting students with their emotional and behavioural challenges
  • Implementing tailored strategies to enhance students' learning experiences
  • Working closely with the SENCO and other support staff to create an inclusive learning environment
  • Monitoring and recording students' progress and wellbeing
  • Helping to plan and deliver interventions for students with SEMH needs

SEMH Teaching Assistant – (Secondary)– Requirements We Are Looking For:

  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs is preferred
  • Cache Level 2 or 3 qualification or equivalent is required.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, psychology, counseling, or related fields desirable.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students
  • A proactive approach to supporting teaching and learning
  • Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic educational environment
  • Relevant qualifications in supporting children with SEMH needs or similar
