Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wishes to develop their skills working within CYP with SEND in a small and supportive team. We are looking for a self- motivated, friendly and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist to join our established Children's Therapy Team in North Lincolnshire.
Your job will be to provide Speech and Language support and input to children within the SEND arena including children with a diverse range of communication difficulties/dysphagia. You will work closely with the established team, Early Years Education providers and Special Schools. You will also support the team lead in new service development activities. If you do not meet all of the essential criteria this post may be considered as a Band 5-6 Development in which case, we would expect that competencies would be developed within 12 months. We would also provide full training for post basic dysphagia competencies.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for providing a specialist assessment, management and interventions for children and young people with a range of communication difficulties including feeding and swallowing (dysphagia). This may include supporting children and young people with SLCN with a Functional impact, DLD, and Language Disorder with associated biomedical conditions and Speech sound disorders.
To work within early years and Special School settings, homes and outpatient clinic locations as required
To provide training as appropriate for colleagues, carer's, other professionals and Speech and Language Therapists. This may require some twilight sessions.
To assist the Operational Lead and Team leads in planning and developing the service.
It would be expected that the Job Holder would complete B6 competencies and training within the first 12 months of the post starting and will be expected to participate in cross site cover as required for dysphagia.
To support, facilitate and educate families and other professionals in supporting needs of a child/ young person with communication difficulties across a range of settings.
To manage a defined caseload of more complex patients using advanced evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, including discharge.
