We are looking to recruit a full time Chief Finance and Operating Officer to provide maternity cover for a six month period from October to March (with potential extension). The role is being offered as a secondment for staff already employed by AfC or by Richmond, Kingston or Windsor and Maidenhead councils.
This role will be based from our offices in Twickenham, Kingston and Maidenhead as well as from home.

About the roleThe successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they are an effective senior leader and that they can successfully oversee a portfolio of specialist support service functions. The postholder needs demonstrable experience in a strategic finance role and the ability to develop strategic direction that supports the organisation to meet its objectives.
This role is a key member of the Achieving for Children (AfC) Company Leadership Team. The COFO will also be an executive member of the AfC Board of Directors and will report to the Chair of the AfC Board. The key elements of the role include:
Development of strategic direction for the company in partnership with the AfC Board, other senior leaders and owners of the company. Chief Finance Officer for the company. Development of stakeholder engagement plans to ensure that the organisation’s Business and Financial Plans are aligned to that of partners with significant ownership control. Oversight of arrangements for the development, implementation and maintenance of systems of internal control, corporate compliance and corporate governance. Responsible for putting arrangements in place to support effective risk management and the financial well-being of the company. Lead on cross company activity including business planning, corporate strategy and the corporate performance monitoring and improvement framework. Work alongside the Directors of Children's Services to lead and develop the organisation as well as to support them in delivering their statutory roles. Executive member of the AfC Board of Directors with a specific focus on providing assurance on corporate compliance and performance. Responsibility for business services functions including arrangements for delivery of finance support, schools finance, data intelligence and quality assurance, people and payroll services, organisational development, ICT and business systems, communications and marketing, strategy and transformation, information governance, business development, procurement, strategic commissioning and health and safety.If you wish to have an informal conversation about the role
