An exciting opportunity has arisen to become an integral member of a multi-disciplinary team the post-holder will work in partnership demonstrating compassionate caring behaviours to fulfil the key functions of the Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (ADRS). In particular the post-holder will be responsible for the assessment, formulation, implementation and evaluation of complex programmes of care using a strength based recovery focused approach to care that proactively involves the person and optimises self-management. The functioning of a Senior Addiction Nurse within ADRS will be to work with a complex caseload of patients requiring specialist ADRS treatment in line with Medical assisted treatment standards (MAT), identifying vulnerabilities to gender, domestic abuse, adult/child protection, mental health whilst coordinating and responding to health promotion needs of patients focusing on improving their physical and mental well-being undertaking case manager responsibilities when required. An important part of the role will be to educated patients in harm reduction, provide needle exchange and support/encourage patients in their recovery journey.
The post holder is responsible for proactively promoting partnership working with patients, carers and other professionals/ agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards and clinical policies. This involves working in a variety of home/near to home community environments.
The post holder is required to undertake duties without direct supervision as well as supervising the practice of others, monitoring, undertaking mentorship/ preceptorship responsibilities, participating in as well as providing regular Nurse Supervision whilst supporting ongoing professional and practice development of staff. The post holder will participation in regular caseload/ nurse line management and regular performance appraisal including a Professional Development Plan (PDP). The post holder will encourage responsibility and accountability for identifying and addressing development needs required for ensuring safe, effective, person centred care for self and others within the ADRS.
A key functions of the post holder will be supporting the team lead in the ongoing learning and development of the staff, participating in and supporting others in the maintenance of a robust clinical governance within ADRS which includes establishing and maintaining; effective communication, effective leadership, policies, procedures and operational standards, clinical audit, evidence based practice, a culture of learning and strategies to maintain safety and minimise risk.
Normal working hours for the post will be 37 hours per week Monday to Thursday 8.45am until 5pm and Friday 9am until 4pm. Staff on occasion maybe expected to participate in shift work including evenings and weekends.
It is essential that you are currently a registered Nurse Level 1 NMC registration with at least 2 years addiction experience or 2 years community experience at Band 5.
