An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Paediatric Team in the role of a 30 hpw Band 3 Medical Secretary.

For the Medical Secretary role you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, and be responsible for a range of duties related to patient pathway management.

The post holder will be expected to cross cover colleagues in times of annual leave and sickness.

An appropriate speed and accuracy of typing is required for this role and this will be assessed at interview.

Medical Secretarial experience is desirable but not essential. You will have a high standard of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work with staff at all levels. You will have enthusiasm, motivation and demonstrate pride in your work.

Main duties of the job

The job holder will be responsible for the effective provision of a comprehensive secretarial and administrative service.

For the Medical Secretary role you will work within a multi-disciplinary team, supporting the Medical Secretarial Team and be responsible for a range of duties related to patient pathway management, including; audio transcription and word processing of clinical letters, ensuring RTT is recorded accurately with relation to National and Local RTT standards, production of reports and other correspondence as required by the Medical Team and Team manager. Supporting with general office duties which include patient phones, uploading of referrals and correspondence to EPR, appointment bookings, sorting and distributing of post, communicating changes to Consultants and any other adhoc requests.

The post holder will be expected to cross cover colleagues in times of non-working days, annual leave and sickness.

To act as the focal point of contact and be responsible for the dissemination of information, messages and enquiries for the medical team, liaising with multi-disciplinary team members, other health professionals and staff within and outside of BTHFT.

The job holder will have extensive involvement with Clinicians and Service Managers across the Trust to ensure that patients are treated in accordance with the Trust's policy and procedures.
