A unique opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Research Fellow to join and support the delivery of the research and clinical activities carried out within the Unit for Paediatric and Population-Based Dermatology Research at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust and King's College London.
The Unit is part of St John's Institute of Dermatology and is directed by Professor Carsten Flohr, Consultant Dermatologist and Chair in Dermatology and Population Health Science at King's College London.
The post offers excellent training in clinical research methodology and conduct, including clinical trials and observational studies, alongside carefully integrated dermatology clinical experience. The post would suit anyone wishing to further their interest in clinical and academic dermatology. The post holder will be encouraged to participate in our departmental quality improvement projects. They will be supported to present at national and international conferences and encouraged to publish relevant articles. The post holder could develop their own research interest/project, leading to a higher degree (MD/PhD), additional funding permitting.
Main duties of the job
Under the supervision of the Unit Director Professor Carsten Flohr, the research element will encompass observational research studies and commercial and non-commercial clinical trials assessing some of the latest treatments in the field. An additional component of laboratory research may be arranged through one of the Unit's internal or external collaborators.
You will function collaboratively within a group of doctors, nurses and clinical research practitioners to achieve team objectives and to maintain and promote the safety and wellbeing of patients, research participants and ensure the integrity of research outcomes.

Qualifications and training
Essential
Full GMC Registration and hold a licence to practise in the UK

Post CMT MRCP or MRCPCH or equivalent
Clinical experience
Essential
Broad based general professional training in general and/or paediatric medicine Proven track record of general medicine / paediatric medicine experience
Desirable
Paediatric dermatology and/or other dermatology experience
Knowledge and skills

Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team Capable of establishing good interpersonal relationships with patients and staff of all grades

Understanding of clinical risk management Competent to work without direct supervision where appropriate
