Senior Clinical Fellow in Dermatological Surgery

Nodal Point 5 - £55,329 excl. LZ

Full Time - 40hrs

Fixed Term - 12 months

Main duties of the job

To contribute to, and receive subspecialty training in complex dermatologic surgery including Mohs' micrographic procedures, PDT and other subspecialty interventions for treatment of skin cancer

To participate in all aspects of service delivery as related to skin cancer including multidisciplinary non-melanoma skin cancer meetings and weekly clinical rounds.

To participate in clinical and other service activities with the object of ensuring a high standard of patient care.

To participate in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.

You must be eligible for registration with the GMC and must have obtained MRCP (UK) or equivalent and have CCT in dermatology when the job commences.

Job responsibilities

The dermatology department provides a wide range of multidisciplinaryspecialist clinics as well as general dermatology services. Formerly a postgraduate teaching hospital it is now fully integrated into the Guys and StThomas hospitals Trust and the Guys and St Thomas School of Medicine(GKT) of Kings College London. St. Johns Institute of Dermatologycontributes to GKT research activities as part of the Division of Genetics andMolecular Medicine, GKT Medical School, Kings College London andprovides an annual MSc postgraduate course.

Person Specification

Qualifications/training

Essential

Eligible for registration with the GMC. MB BS (or equivalent). MRCP (UK) or equivalent. CCT in Dermatology or equivalent when the post commences

Clinical experience/knowledge

Essential

Proven track record of General Medicine experience. Clear, logical thinking showing an analytical/scientific approach. Understanding of clinical risk management. Competent to work without direct supervision where appropriate. Enthusiasm for clinical medicine.

Research

Essential

Understanding of the principles and applications of clinical research

Desirable

Research experience.

Personal skills/audit

Essential

Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team. Understanding the principles of clinical governance and its implications. Evidence of a depth of understanding of audit.
