Responsible for the direct supervision of the Cooks and Catering Assistants in the preparation, cooking and service of food to patients, staff and visitors, at Ilkeston & Ripley Hospitals ensuring that Food Hygiene regulations and Health and Safety at Work policies and procedures are complied with.

Will have direct responsibility for identified sites and catering teams but will be expected to support across the wider service where necessary to ensure service continuity.

Main duties of the job

Food Hygiene Regulations to patients, staff and visitors Responsible for planning of duty rotas and allocation of work to ensure the catering operation is maintained at all times To participate in the Recruitment & Selection, Induction, Appraisals and training of all catering staff To support the Catering Manager in implementing government & local guidelines Managing and updating of appropriate records including in-house computerised systems and local management information systems for both staff and service information Completion of salary returns

This post will be based at Ilkeston Hospital with responsibility for supervising Ripley Hospital catering Team occasional travel to other sites for meetings, etc .

Ensure Food Hygiene Regulations and procedures are adhered to and regular checks and audits are undertaken To predict daily catering demands and be responsible for the ordering of provisions and materials to meet the demand Monitoring of meals produced for quality and appearance and undertaking meal surveys On a daily basis: responsible for the collating of menus and other catering requirements. Taking into account all dietary requirements and ensuring sufficient quantities of food and other resources are available to meet these demands To ensure a quality and nutritious patient meal service is provided at all times To participate in the cooks rota in the daily production of all meals Person Specification

Essential

Level 3 Food Hygiene qualifications NVQ 706/1/3 OR Equivalent cooking Qualification Supervisory Experience

Experience of using E- Rostering Use of Systems
