Job summary

As an Orthopaedic Scrub Nurse, you will work as a member of the multi-disciplinary theatre team providing a high standard of nursing care and safety for patients within the theatre unit. In addition to this, you will also actively contribute to the maintenance of an environment that is conducive to the delivery and promotion of a high standard of patient care. The post holder will adhere to professional and national standards and work in a patient-focused way. Delivering a service that is safe, effective and efficient.

Main duties of the job

Key Performance Indicators

Patient satisfaction.

Clinical quality indicators (such as infection rates).

Tight maintenance of par stock levels to minimise stock wastage.

Ensure the achievement of 100% revenue capture.

Kinvara Private Hospital is a modern, boutique private hospital in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. The hospital serves the population of South Yorkshire and beyond, and is easily accessed via train, M1 and M18. Free parking is provided.

Facilities at the hospital include 16 inpatient beds, disabled-friendly rooms, 2 laminar flow operating theatres and 3 consultation rooms.

We offer the most up to date surgical treatments combined with a warm welcome and a professional and caring service from our nursing team.

We specialise in the areas of orthopaedics, cosmetic surgery, and women's health, but also undertake general surgery and are seeking part time and full time and bank theatre scrub nurses to work in our busy theatres.

Pay rates for permanent and bank positions are negotiable, based on experience.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Assessing, planning, delivering and evaluation of peri-operativepatient care. This will include:

Prepare patients for clinical/ operative procedures

Provide assistance in clinical/ operative procedures

Providinginitial emergency care as required.

Workingwith members of the multi-disciplinary Theatre team following local protocolsand standards.

Ensuringthat the patients comfort, dignity and privacy are maintained at all times.

Assemble,check and prepare the appropriate surgical instruments and consumables for awide range of operative procedures incorporating various types of surgery priorto use and any faults reported to the Theatre Manager immediately.

Coordinatethe use of supplies and equipment during the operating list, ensuring theequipment is used in an appropriate and safe manner. Monitor and check stockitems including consumables, equipment and drugs.

Promoteand ensure an environment conducive to the continuing prevention and control ofinfection for all staff, patients and visitors.

Ensureany accidents or complaints are fully documented and that the appropriatemanager is informed.

Maintainthe safe custody, handling of drugs in accordance with Kinvara PrivateHospitals policy

Participatein education, training and development of other staff.

Activelycontribute to changes in practice and policies when changes have arisen whichmay follow an audit, complaint or newly issued guidance.

Adhereto all Kinvara Private Hospital policies and procedures.

Undertakingany other duties as required by the line manager.
