SEND Teaching Assistant 
Location: Market Weighton - East Riding of Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2024
Salary: £84 - £107 per day

Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education’s Hull branch is currently looking to recruit dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to work at an Alternative Provision located in Market weighton, East Riding of Yorkshire. About the School:

  • The School consists of students aged 11 - 18 years.
  • The School aim to provide a bespoke education provision with a person-centered approach. 
  • The School provide high-quality education provision for students who have complex needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).
  • The School aim to create inviting and creative spaces, and challenge students to achieve their personal best, whilst building positive self-confidence. 

SEND Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for young students with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
  • Support the delivery of in-class activities, promoting independent learning where possible, and encouraging appropriate social skills.
  • Work alongside the teaching staff to support pupil behaviour, learning and personal development.
  • Build a trusting relationship and rapport with the student to help re-engage them with their learning in a safe and caring environment.
  • Help the student to replace their feelings of failure and frustration with a sense of belonging and success.

SEND Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a school or residential setting.
  • Be knowledgeable or different complex needs, associated learning difficulties and challenging behaviours.
  • Knowledge and understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies such as Team Teach, NAPPI or MAPPA.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with staff members and outside agencies, such as counsellors and mental health professionals.
  • Have an Enhanced Child Only DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
