Medical and Safety Directorate

Scottish Patient Safety Programme (SPSP) Perinatal Programme

Secondment until 31 March 2027 (1 sessions/7.4 hours per week)

Commensurate with existing salary

Edinburgh/Glasgow - hybrid working will apply for the foreseeable future

This is an exciting opportunity for a Neonatal Nursing Clinical Lead with extensive clinical expertise in perinatal care to join the Medical and Safety directorate within Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

The post holder will provide subject matter and improvement expertise, clinical advice and visible leadership to the established Scottish Patient Safety Programme (SPSP) for Perinatal and wider quality improvement collaboratives. As part of the SPSP Perinatal programme team the postholder will provide visible support to teams participating in the ongoing collaborative. The post holder will support teams to deliver evidence-based interventions for perinatal services, which improve experience and outcomes for women, birthing people, babies and families across Scotland.

You will hold active registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council and be educated to Masters level (or equivalent experience). You will have significant neonatal experience across the four pillars of practice: clinical practice, facilitating learning, leadership and evidence, and research and development. Ideally you will have experience of engaging with diverse groups and wider multi-professional teams as well as relevant leadership or management experience.

As a clinical lead with active involvement with clinical networks in your professional area, you will be well placed to identify the connections and opportunities created by system-wide working. You will work with other national clinical leads, advisors, and professional groups and bodies across the UK and internationally to continually develop the programme and share learning.

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in the SPSP Perinatal programme and provide leadership input to improvement that directly impacts experience and outcomes for women, birthing people, babies, and families across Scotland.

Any individual wishing to pursue this opportunity as a secondment must seek the support of their line manager prior to application.

Closing Date: Sunday 15 December 2024 at midnight

It is anticipated that interviews will be held in person on Monday 20 January 2025 in Glasgow.
