Main duties of the job

General Anaesthetic

Ensure that all clinical records have been completed to a satisfactory standard. This includes updating and maintaining the electronic patient record (EPR).

Check all anaesthetic equipment prior to lists and prior to attending to each client.

Provider adequate and safe anaesthesia appropriate to the medical history and physical condition of the individual client in accordance with MSI policies and guidelines.

In doing do, ensure that the monitoring of client vital signs and overall wellbeing are carried out to the highest possible level of safety using observations, mechanical and electronic means appropriate to the procedure, using the equipment provided by MSI and using AAGBI minimum monitoring standards.

Local Anaesthetic

When a client requiring local anaesthetic is treated in the main operating suite, to maintain a watching brief but not necessarily become directly involved in client care unless so requested by a member of the team responsible for the clients wellbeing.

Conscious Sedation

Use appropriate sedation as requested and within the guidelines provided by MSI.

In doing so, ensure that monitoring of client vital signs and overall well-being are carried out to the highest possible level of safety using observation, mechanical and electronic means appropriate to the procedure, using the equipment provided by MSI and using the AAGBI minimum monitoring standards.
