Our client is looking for a Deputy Head of Care/Senior Team Leader for an Elderly residential Care home in Lewes. This is a 26 bed care home CQC rated 'Good'.

As a Deputy Head of Care you will have:

  • A Caring, Friendly Personality
  • Flexibility to work weekends and work on the floor
  • The ability to undertake day to day running of the home in the Registered Manager's absence.
  • A proven record in the care of older people and a desire to provide excellence of care
  • Ability to relate to staff in a professional and supportive manner - form positive relationships with colleagues, residents and families
  • Ability to build a supportive care team, recognising and valuing individual skills
  • Computer literate
  • Supervisory skills
  • Meds Trained, ensure medications including controlled drugs are administered, recorded and maintained replenished at all times in accordance with drug administration.


The role duties:

  • Order monthly medication as well as interim orders / stock control
  • Book in /book out medications
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the prevention of abuse, recognition of the signs of abuse
  • Write and develop Care Plans and risk assessments for all new residents
  • Complete monthly care plan evaluations, making changes as necessary, ensuring the plan reflects changing circumstances and objectives, keep care plans and records maintained and updated, accurate, legible, consistent
  • Care Plan review with families, social workers, psychotherapist's and other health professionals
  • Act as a key communicator on Resident Care Matters (change of condition, concerns, requests to the resident or to family members advocates of the resident) Actively liaise with G.Ps and healthcare professionals
  • Referrals to dietitians / OTs / mental health team and other health professionals
  • Book in new residents to gp and proxy system
  • Stock checks on first aid boxes
  • Incontinent orders
  • Completing Incontinence assessments for the bladder and bowel team
  • Room folders
  • Supporting staff with all Care Supporting Documents
  • Support staff with any care related matters, provide advice and mentor.
  • Supporting the home on call when Managers away
  • Participate in the induction of new staff to the home and their duties. After familiarisation of their duties and responsibilities supervise and coordinate staff to ensure that their jobs are prioritised and performed in a diligent caring and appropriate and attentive manner at all times
  • Assist the Registered Manager that formal supervision of all care staff
  • Participate in all staff meetings and to support the Registered Manager and Senior Management in all decisions that enhance the quality of care in the home
  • Assist the Manager that staff attend training and complete it as per training maitrix. Teach other staff members in the team
  • Be aware of professional accountability at all times.
  • Assist the Manager with Quality Assurance.


Requirements

  • NVQ Level 3
  • Two years experience in elderly care
  • One year experience in a senior/supervisory role
  • Meds Trained
  • Drivers License
