The City & Hackney Perinatal Mental Health Service offers assessment and treatment for women who are currently experiencing, or are at a
higher risk of developing, moderate to severe mental health conditions during pregnancy and up until their child's 2nd birthday.
This post presents a developmental opportunity for experienced nurses with a specific interest in perinatal mental health. You will collaborate
within a multidisciplinary team (MDT) and work alongside our experts by experience to build upon our existing accomplishments and further
enhance the quality of our services, ensuring excellent outcomes for both birthing individuals and their families.
As part of this role, you should have a solid understanding of perinatal community standards, governance, and performance structures. You
should also feel confident in establishing partnerships with other agencies, such as Children and Family Social Services, Midwifery and Obstetric
teams, Neighbourhood and Recovery teams, Health Visitors, and the Voluntary sector.
Working closely with your colleagues, you will receive support and actively participate in ongoing perinatal workforce training provided by ELFT
and London-wide initiatives. Additionally, you will be part of the Pan London Community Perinatal Nurses network, fostering connections and
knowledge sharing among professionals in the field.

Main duties of the job

To work autonomously as a Community Perinatal Mental Health Nurse, managing a designated caseload.
Offering mental health assessments/well-being chats to partners/significant others of women/birthing people under the care of the Perinatal specialist service, as The NHS Long Term Plan requires that Perinatal mental health services implement evidence-based assessments of partners/significant others of women/birthing people accessing specialist community services and signposting to support where required.Ensuring the continued implementation of the joint working agreement (High Intensity Pathway) with Crisis Services in the City & Hackney borough.
Collaborating with other professionals and promptly communicating any concerns regarding the safeguarding of children and adults to the relevant
responsible services.Working collaboratively with colleagues from both generic psychiatric services and other perinatal services.
To form effective relationships with inpatient units to facilitate early effective discharge.

Experience of working in Perinatal Mental Health field is essential for this post.

As a member of the perinatal team, you will have the responsibility to exercise autonomous professional judgment in managing a clinical caseload
independently. This includes providing specialized assessment and follow-up care to individuals referred with moderate to severe perinatal mental
health problems in various settings.
Additionally, you will ensure that partners of women accessing specialist perinatal mental health services and maternity outreach clinics receive
evidence-based assessments of their mental health and appropriate support referrals.It will be essential for you to accurately and
contemporaneously document your work in the RiO system, recording and updating information as needed.
You will be accountable for your professional actions and expected to seek guidance and supervision from your line manager when facing ethical
dilemmas or in relation to Trust policies.

Current/previous team management experience Experience managing perinatal cases Experience of multi-agency pre-birth planning (CPA) for women with serious E E S/I I Page 2 of 5 mental illness (2) • Experience of managing a caseload of service users via CPA with evidence of completing high quality assessments Minimum 2 years post qualification experience

Desirable criteria

Experience of planning and delivery of training in response to identified needs Experience of contributing to policies and procedures (2) Experience of supervising mental health professionals and/or practice teaching Minimum 2 years post qualification experience working with women with serious mental illness

Education/Qualification/Training

Essential criteria

Evidence of professional qualification in nursing Evidence of registration on Part 3 of NMC register Evidence of continuing professional development including recently in perinatal mental health practice and safeguarding children practice Educated to degree level or equivalent

Desirable criteria

ENB 998 or equivalent Clinical supervision training Qualified non-medical prescriber Qualifications/ training in specialist skills e.g. therapeutic/ psychological interventions
