RMCH is a tertiary Children's Hospital that provides regional and supra-regional services to include most dietetic clinical paediatric specialties. We are based in a 371 bed, purpose built hospital in the centre of Manchester, and are continuing to expand and develop our paediatric dietetic service to reflect state of the art facilities in the largest single-site children's hospital in the UK.

Dietetics is a well-recognized and respected service and we form part of most multi-disciplinary clinical teams.

The RMCH dietetic service is strategically supported by a professional paediatric dietetic lead together with;

5 x B8a clinical lead / paediatric dietetic team leads 1 x ACP - ketogenic therapy 18 x B7 clinical specialist paediatric dietitians 9 x B6 rotational paediatric dietitians 4 x paediatric dietetic assistant Special Feeds Unit with 8 assistants Administrative support

Main duties of the job

Our gastro dietetic team will consist of;

wte 8a clinical specialist / team lead dietitians, wte band7 wte (1) band 6 shared access to dietetic assistant

Band 7 post : recent clinical knowledge and experience in gastro- enterology specialties in acute paediatric dietetics at a band 6 level is essential (including IBD, enteral and parenteral nutrition).

A comprehensive uptodate dietetic knowledge base together with evidence of post registration CPD and training ( Paediatric Masters Modules or equivalent ).

Band 6 post; you will already be working as an acute paediatric dietitian with good comprehensive acute paediatric dietetic knowledge together with some post registration paediatric training .You will need to demonstrate insight into the challenges of managing infants, children and young people with a chronic condition.

Excellent leadership and communication skills together with an understanding and strong commitment to multi-disciplinary team working are essential.

Our service is committed to helping you develop your skills through continued professional development, regular supervision, annual appraisals, audit, policy development and training in line with best practice guidelines to further develop highly specialist clinical skills.

Substantial paediatric clinical dietetic experience in an acute hospital setting in a complex area of dietetics ICU, renal , ETC Specialist knowledge of dietetic assessment and treatment techniques Evidence of on-going Continual Professional Development in dietetics Experience of and commitment to interdisciplinary team working. Understanding of clinical effectiveness and its implications for services including experience of quality issues, audit and evidence based practice Delivered MDT paediatric dietetic training both internally and externally to current organisation.
