Job Description:

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Teaching Assistant with a specialism in Special Educational Needs (SEN) support. The successful candidate will join a welcoming primary school in Huyton for the entire academic year starting in September. This role is perfect for someone passionate about making a difference in young children's lives, particularly those with additional needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support for EYFS: Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons tailored to the EYFS curriculum. Help create a stimulating and safe learning environment for all children.
  • SEN Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to children with SEN. Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and work closely with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) to monitor progress and adapt strategies as necessary.
  • Classroom Assistance: Prepare resources, set up learning activities, and support the teacher in classroom management. Assist with record-keeping and observations to track student progress.
  • Personal Care: Provide personal care and support to children with additional physical needs, ensuring their well-being and comfort throughout the school day.
  • Parental Engagement: Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their children's progress and any concerns or achievements, fostering a strong home-school partnership.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities provided by the school and Teaching Personnel to enhance skills and knowledge in both EYFS and SEN.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications in Early Years Education and/or SEN (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare, or equivalent). A willingness to undertake additional training as required.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with young children in an educational setting, particularly within EYFS and supporting children with SEN.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, patience, empathy, and a positive attitude. Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of the EYFS curriculum and best practices in supporting children with SEN. Familiarity with safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • DBS Check: Enhanced DBS clearance (Teaching Personnel can assist with the application process if necessary).
