The post of Special Projects Fundraiser is an essential link between the hospital charity and local supporters. The post holder will be responsible for independently managing a fundraising programme of special projects and to achieve set income targets, building and leading multi-disciplinary teams of employees and a cohort of volunteers to raise the specified funds for the Trust’s charity.
The purpose of this role is to build an ongoing revenue stream to generate funds to meet agreed targets. The post holder must be inventive and highly organised in order to initiate and then deliver highly successful fundraising activities, including donor recruitment and major donor, including corporate and celebrity donor, liaison and development, through on-site fundraising, events, community and corporate fundraising, employee fundraising and cause-related marketing partnerships, securing individual gifts and gifts in kind, from existing supporters and new recruits.
Working closely with internal and external groups and individuals, the ideal candidate will have an outgoing personality, keen for direct contact with people, good at motivating, self-confident and comfortable engaging at the most senior levels of both internal and external communities
Main duties of the job
·Design, deliver and evaluate on-site fundraising programmes from scratch
·Lead teams of volunteer charity fundraisers, providing them with all the fundraising support they require, including provision of fundraising materials, delivering training, offering advice and guidance

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
On-site fundraising
·Design, deliver and evaluate on-site fundraising programmes from scratch
·Lead multi-disciplinary teams of internal and external staff and volunteers to design, deliver and evaluate the promotion of on-site fundraising
·Lead teams of volunteer charity fundraisers, providing them with all the fundraising support they require, including provision of fundraising materials, delivering training, offering advice and guidance
·Be the first point of contact for all local fundraising enquiries and manage these empathically and professionally with the understanding that initial queries may involve volunteers sharing sensitive information around the reasons for wanting to fundraise.
·Cultivate and develop relationships with local organisations and communities of all kinds to develop fundraising partnerships.
Event fundraising
·To lead the Charity team’s training needs, resources and support to meet the needs of their roles.
·To recruit and support volunteers dedicated to fundraising activities.
·This includes leading on the planning and delivery of specialist fundraising techniques and training.
·Lead multi-disciplinary teams of internal and external staff, including briefings and liaison with the attending CFC Chair, NEDs and Exec., plus volunteers, to design, deliver and evaluate profitable fundraising projects, e.g. from ad-hoc and regular entertainment events, through annual festivals to an occasional charity ball
·Lead multi-disciplinary teams of internal and external staff and volunteers to design, deliver and evaluate the promotion of these events
·Present current and would-be supporters a wide portfolio of offerings to secure sponsorship, donations, in kind support, and fundraising opportunities to attract new project partnerships
·Ensure that all activities comply with the Trust’s Charity Ethics Policy and that all conflicts of interests are managed.
General fundraising
·Responsible for the delivery of the Charity Fundraiser Programme, including wider specialist fundraising training throughout the charity team
·Develop own fundraising targets, supporting budgets, strategies and implementationplans and work alongside the charity’s fundraising and communications leadership to further contribute to the Charity’s overall strategic fundraising project planning process
·Commission the charity’s communications team to plan the successful promotion of all independent fundraising activities
·Secure, manage and report all gifts in kind to the hospital and to the Finance Division
·Take a leading role at own charity events and also as directed by the Head of Fundraising and Communications – these will include weekend and evening hours
·Represent the charity positively and professionally at all times, including to High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs), corporate and community leaders, celebrities and suppliers
·Be fully aware of the rest of the charity team’s fundraising activities, appeal plans and other charitable activities and support them where appropriate, including taking the leading role on capital appeal negotiations
·Understand and adhere to the data protection and freedom of information acts, including evolving GDPR regulations.
Communication
·Use various communication methods to promote, motivate and persuade individuals, organisations, communities and companies to participate in fundraising projects and become major donors.
·In particular, relations with HNWIs, corporate and community leaders are often delicate, and significant levels of tact and diplomacy are required to persuade them to part with gifts of up to seven figures and even in the £millions
·Complex decision-making lies at the heart of the HNWI fundraising proposition and you will be required to calculate in advance exactly who should make the proposal, when and where and to whom - and crucially how much is as much as they are prepared to give.
·You will also need to know when to effect a drop-close, cross-sell or upsell approach to secure the optimum donation at that time, and therefore be able to make this decision during the negotiation.
·Commission the charity’s communications team to ensure all your fundraising materials are up to date and adhere to the Code of Fundraising Practice, and that all literature produced by the charity’s communications team on your behalf is in line with brand guidelines
·Commission the charity communications team to ensure fundraising activity is communicated accurately and appropriately
·Commission and distribute charity merchandise as and when required.
Fundraising Strategy
·Lead the Fundraising team on special projects and be a source of expertise, knowledge and guidance to the rest of the organisation on maximising fundraising opportunities including high value events and blended multi-partner partnerships
·Lead the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of an ambitious 3-year Special Projects Plan that will utilise charitable opportunities and ensure forecasting positions are met.
·Ensure effective evaluation and monitoring systems are in place for assessing the impact of the special projects and to provide regular information and reports to the Director of Charities & Voluntary Services and the Charitable Funds Committee.
·Lead, plan and deliver fundraising projects, including their promotion, to promised targets within own budget and within the overall annual budget
·Manage and monitor agreed project budgets throughout the project planning and implementation processes
·Capture all relevant supporter information within the charity database and maintain accurate records of these.
·Utilise Access database data analysis and consequent learnings to improve the planning and implementation of future fundraising activities, including selection (and de-selection) and segmentation of appropriate audiences by demographic, location, ability and propensity to give
·Ensure that accurate and up-to-date fundraising records are maintained and are accessible, including event details, fundraising pages, and charity-supplied fundraising collateral.
·Ensure that all data is handled confidentially and with regard to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), especially records relating to companies and employees.

Educated to degree level or equivalent level of work experience 5+ years fundraising experience to include; face-to-face High Net Worth Individual (HNWI) fundraising, corporate and community fundraising, fundraising event conception, management and delivery, securing repeat and five-figure gifts on an annual basis. Excellent IT skills: Microsoft Office, Adobe design software or equivalent. Multi-tasking. The ability to work to tight deadlines and effectively manage priorities. Excellent attention to detail. Experience of organising events with high value donations from £5k-£250k.
