About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the Lignani Research Group, based in the department, and assist in developing viral delivery of molecular tools to manipulate the excitability of brain regions in models of neurodegeneration and epilepsy. The project is central to a research programme aimed at optimising gene therapy for neurodegenerative diseases with a view to clinical translation.
The role is available from September and is funded by the Sigrid Rausing Trust until 31 July in the first instance.

About you
You will hold a PhD or equivalent in Neuroscience or a related field, coupled with hands-on experience working with models of neurodegenerative diseases, tauopathy, and experimental epilepsy models. You will possess experience with rodents, histology, and in electrophysiology, stereotaxic surgery, and electrode implantation. Experience with cell culture, molecular biology methods, and advanced imaging techniques is also essential.
This role meets the eligibility requirements for a skilled worker certificate of sponsorship or a global talent visa under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore, UCL welcomes applications from international applicants who require a visa.
What we offer
Appointment as Research Fellow is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be as Research Assistant (salary £37, - £39, per annum) with appointment as Research Fellow being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis.
