We are recruiting to the role of Deputy Portering and Security Manager, within our operational support services. Operational support services include portering, security, waste and transport. Reporting to our Head of Portering and Security, this key role will support in managing the staff working in CHoICE Facilities Services.

Main duties of the job

40 hours per week, predominantly Monday to Friday. However the services being managed are operational 24/7 and the post holder would be expected to work flexibly to meet the needs of the service

Role Responsibility

Support in the management, co-ordination and development of all operational support services in CHoICE run hospital sites, ensuring the delivery of a cost-effective service, which meets the needs of Trust/CHoICE and complies with policies and statutory regulations. Support the management of services in line with all KPIs and budgetary requirements. Implement improvements in working practices which will deliver efficiencies in line with best practice. Conform with any relevant legislative and codes of practice appertaining to Health & Safety legislation. Regularly review work schedules and monitor all operational support service activities in the hospital. Ensure standards of service remain consistently high and are compliant with the SLA with the Trust Maintain and develop a positive working culture and environment through sound leadership, effective communication and delegation, to ensure a continued Engaged workforce. Support in compiling all monthly statistics and figure.

Job responsibilities

To co-ordinate & manage the Operational Support supervisors and provide support in managing the portering, security, waste and transport staff working within CHoICE Facilities Services.

To provide management support to the Head of Portering and Security and Hotel Service Manager.

Monitor the external non-clinical contracts , post room franking machine, Portering software, for task allocation, Security incident reporting system.

To assist the Head of Portering and Security to develop and deliver a professional, quality, cost effective service to provide and maintain a safe and pleasant environment for patients, visitors and staff.

Manage and support staff working on portering helpdesk.

Develop and maintain a robust administration system which records timely accurate information , ESR, sickness, training, and annual leave requests.

Establish a detailed knowledge of the service, developing close working relationships with staff in operational support and the users of the service.

Improve department morale by engaging with the staff on a regular basis, establish a quarterly staffing forum.

To be responsible for the maintenance and use of all Software Systems used within Operational Support.

Staff development and training Project management Experience of change management, especially in relation to organisational and professional culture

Qualifications

Relevant Degree level qualification or demonstrable equivalent experience.

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Proven leadership skills with the ability to provide direction. Excellent communication and understanding skills in all aspects of team & people management, including supervision and appraisal processes. Excellent level of written and spoken English, with demonstrable comprehension skills Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a range of complex tasks & problem solve. Ability to work with spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel, to manipulate data and present reports in a range of formats. Ability to use Management systems, inputting and extracting data & producing reports.
