An exciting opportunity has arisen within our Trust for a highly motivated and dynamic leader to undertake the role of Band 8a Lead Emergency Practitioner/Matron in the UTC part of the Urgent and Emergency care service.

The department operates a 24-hour service, providing unplanned urgent and emergency care for the London Borough of Hillingdon and the surrounding areas of north west London.

This is an exciting time to join the service in Hillingdon Hospital, with plans for our new build underway, this is an opportunity to join the growing team and shape the care provided in Urgent treatment Centre. In these challenging times, this is a post for someone who is enthused by change and can think in new ways.

The post holder will lead staff to deliver high quality care for patients, using strategic thinking to support the Trust's aims and CARES values. Strong clinical and professional leadership is essential for this role. The post holder will provide visible leadership to deliver effective team work, good communication, and excellent clinical and quality outcomes for our patients, ensuring that robust governance arrangements are in place.

As part of the department's senior management team, you will work closely with the clinical lead, divisional Director of Nursing, Senior medical staff, stakeholders, and your peers.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Lead EP/Matronin the Urgent Treatment Centre is to provide managerial and professional support on a day-to-day basis to the staff and ensure the smooth running of the department to achieve the emergency access target.

To provide clinical managerial expertise in all aspects of the speciality, ensuring the highest possible standard for nursing care and technical equipment care, with efficient and effective utilisation of resources.

The Lead EP/Matronin the Urgent Treatment Centre will work closely with the Service Manager, Divisional Director of Nursing for Acute Medicine/ Governance and Divisional Director of Operations Unplanned Care, to ensure that a high level of care is provided to patients presenting to Hillingdon Urgent and Emergency Care department.

Assist in achieving Urgent and Emergency Care quality indicators by ensuring timely review/transfer/discharge of patients.

Essential

Registered Nurse, Paramedic, or physiotherapist Recognised EP Qualification at minimum Degree Level or equivalent. Minor Injuries and Minor Illnesses Course at Level 6/ Non-Medical Prescribing (essential in experienced ENP's) Staff management Experience of audit, benchmarking standard setting

Desirable

Degree in Nursing or equivalent BSc Hons in Emergency Care / MSc / PgCert Independent nurse prescribing or working towards independent prescribing at MSc Level Recent experience in Urgent and Emergency Care setting Teaching research/evidencebased practice Experience as a team leader in UEC
