We have a great opportunity to join our Regional Control Centre (RCC) team as a Regional Control Centre Team Manager to work within our Water department. You will lead and motivate a team of seven shift controllers working a rotating 24hour shifts and one Senior technical advisor to meet targets and develop the service into a continuous improvement culture.

The team provide a service to the Water and Customer teams, and you will be expected, with the appropriate support and training, to develop an awareness of these operations and the regulatory pressures on each of them and the role the RCC has in supporting these teams to achieve their targets.

We’re looking for you to be delivering unrivalled customer experience to both internal and external customers, demonstrating effective measurement, monitoring and reporting of critical control room metrics. This also includes working with colleagues in Northumbrian Water to ensure lessons learnt are shared and applied consistently.

Key responsibilities will include ensuring we get everyone home safe every day, maintaining good levels of employee engagement, the ongoing development of your team to ensure effective operations. You’ll work effectively with key stakeholders ensuring great customer service both internally and externally and you will be responsible for the effective management of resource levels within your team.

Overall company water quantity and quality performance is an important part of daily RCC activities and you will be expected to lead the conversation with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to ensure a resilient and optimized position is maintained.

About you

We’re looking for the successful candidate to have proven experience of working at a similar level and leadership of multi-disciplinary teams to ensure effective implementation of engagement strategies, keeping the team fully informed about key targets/messages and their contribution to NWG’s objectives.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of being a team player and experience of taking Health and Safety seriously. You’ll have the ability to undertake a demanding work schedule while remaining highly customer focused.

We’re looking for you to have the proven ability to engage and communicate persuasively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders up to executive level, so strong influencing ability is necessary within the remit of the role. You will be able to establish credibility quickly with senior level stakeholders.

You’ll be a dynamic leader with sound technical knowledge and problem solving skills with an ability to coach, mentor and build positive working relationships within your team.

With the RCC team operating on a 24/7, 365 basis it is important you understand the impact on the team and individual of shift work and are prepared to be flexible in providing support for them. You must also be prepared to take part in a standby rota to provide support out of hours during the week and through the weekend for the team.
