About the role:

Communicate with family member on the progress of a service user and provide information on the recovery process Promote family and carer involvement, providing advice and information to staff, service users, families, and carers via leaflets and verbally via 1:1 session, group-work or over the telephone or video calls Promote the services within the prison and the community, including information on the services available and referral routes Provide family work to prisoners engaged in substance misuse recovery services and their families. This will be a mix of practical support and advice and structured family work designed to support families during custodial periods and help them prepare for return of prisoner To develop links with community services and signpost and refer appropriately Liaise with and attend the prison visitor centre to engage family in services

About you:

Considerable experience of working directly with families and carers in a field such as prison, social work, drug and alcohol recovery, probation, health, education, youth, and community Knowledge and experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment Sound working knowledge of Child Protection Sound working knowledge of domestic abuse issues Ability to maintain a practical, positive, and considered approach when dealing with challenging behaviour Self-motivated and competent at organising own workload with a flexible attitude
