Job summary

Nightingale House Surgery areseeking a reliable, enthusiastic, hardworking, and highly motivated receptionist to work in our busy GP Practice. Good IT skills are essential along withexcellent communication and compassionate customer service skills.

The position is full time 30 hoursper week.

Applicant must be flexible and available to work early or late eveningshifts to cover holiday and sickness when required

Training will be provided.

Main duties of the job

Ensuring that patients are made to feel at ease in the surgery and treated with politeness, dignity, respect, courtesy and sympathy but with firm and direct handling.

Making appointments both in person and over the telephone.

Receiving, recording and passing of messages both in person and over the telephone.

Maintaining patient confidentiality and the confidentiality of the business at all times.

Opening and closing the premises in line with procedures.

Ensuring patients are aware of surgery procedures, particularly new patients.

Using the computer for repeat prescriptions and recording patient contact in the computer record.

Dealing with hospitals regarding patients appointments.

Handling of specimens in line with surgery procedures

Covering colleagues during holiday, sick leave and any other absences

Processing patient change of details

Collect Results GP links Emis tasks- online requests and sorting out errors and problems

Ingeneral the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties andresponsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

About us

Our practice list size is about have 2 GP Partners, Dr Dapo Abidoye and Dr Yokefah Chong and 2salaried GP Dr Equi Ajogbe & Dr Mohammad Kashem.

Wehave an experienced Practice Manager, Farhaanah Begum.

OtherHealth Professionals include 2 Nurses, 1 Physician Associate, 2 ClinicalPharmacist and an in house Phlebotomist.

Weare supported by a friendly team of administrative staff including a GPAssistant and a Medical Secretary.

Job responsibilities

Ensuring thatpatients are made to feel at ease in the surgery and treated with politeness,dignity, respect, courtesy and sympathy but with firm and direct handling.

Making appointments both in person and over thetelephone.

Receiving new patients and assisting with thecompletion of forms as necessary.

Receiving, recording and passing of messagesboth in person and over the telephone.

Maintaining patient confidentiality and theconfidentiality of the business at all times.

The filing, amalgamating, renewing as necessaryof patient paper notes.

Opening and closing the premises in line withprocedures.

Helping patients to access services/ signposting patients to the correct services.

Ensuring patients are aware of surgeryprocedures, particularly new patients.

Filing correspondence and results, enteringresults, and making sure patients are contacted, giving results as per surgerypolicy.

Dealing with correspondence regarding recallsand such other matters as may from time to time be required.

Using the computer for repeat prescriptions andrecording patient contact in the computer record.

Dealing with hospitals regarding patientsappointments.

To assist in the tidiness of the surgery, toensure a clean, safe and tidy work environment.

Secure processing and sending of email/ post asrequired.

Handling of specimens in line with surgeryprocedures

Covering colleagues during holiday, sick leaveand any other absences

Undertake online and face to face trainingappropriate to your role as required.
