We currently have an opportunity for an enthusiastic Therapy Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team at Park House in Bedford.

Park House provides accommodation for 14 adult residents, focusing on person-centred, evidence-based rehabilitation care plans to maximise independence and recovery. Our wheelchair-accessible facility includes a lift, training kitchen, community garden, plus four transitional bedsits for those ready to take a step into more independent living.

Situated adjacent to Bedford Park, Park House provides residents with easy access to the lush surroundings and recreational opportunities. Our location near the town centre ensures convenient access to local amenities, occupational and educational resources, as well as a plethora of social and leisure activities.

We specialise in post-acute rehabilitation and manage long-term neurological conditions, emphasising therapy, care, and quality of life. Our commitment is to create a safe, happy, and empowering environment for every individual we support, enabling them to live their best life possible.

What you'll be working:

This role is 37.5 hours per week, 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.

What you'll be doing:

Under the guidance of a qualified Therapist, the post-holder will:

  • Complete basic initial assessments of patients and formulate appropriate treatment goals
  • Organise and deliver a therapeutic activities while assessing, evaluating and documenting performance
  • Use technical and therapeutic skills to promote independence in activities of daily living
  • Prescribe equipment/ assistive technology and adaptations to facilitate independence within agreed guidelines
  • Advise, support, and educate patients, carers, and other professionals in the self- management of the patients’ condition
  • Give both verbal and written feedback about the progress of a patient’s treatment programme both within the therapy team in MDT meetings, huddles etc
  • Provide support and guidance to the team’s band 3 support workers or carers in intermediate care or reablement as needed
  • Keep people safe from any harm and protect their human rights

What you'll have:

  • NVQ level 3 in health and social care or equivalent is essential
  • Experience of working within therapy services and knowledge of the assessments and therapeutic interventions involved in rehabilitation
  • An understanding of the impact of disability or illness on function
  • Previous experience of working in neurorehabilitation settings, either acute or community, would be an advantage.
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills
  • Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS
