Maths Teaching Assistant – Skelmersdale (Secondary School)

Location: Skelmersdale, Lancashire

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Contract Type: Part-Time, Permanent

About the Role: We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Maths Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team at a dynamic secondary school in Skelmersdale. This role involves working closely with the Maths department to support students’ learning and help them achieve their academic goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Maths teachers in preparing and delivering engaging lessons.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students needing additional help in Maths.
  • Prepare and organise teaching materials and resources.
  • Support the classroom environment to ensure it is conducive to learning.
  • Help with the assessment and tracking of student progress.
  • Supervise students during break times and extracurricular activities.
  • Support the school’s policies and procedures to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • A strong background in Mathematics, with a minimum of GCSE Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working with secondary school students is desirable.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A patient, empathetic, and approachable manner.
  • A commitment to fostering a positive learning environment for all students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
