We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic qualifiedOphthalmic Photographer to join our dedicated Imaging team. This is an exciting opportunity where you will beessential in providing high quality diagnostic services to assist clinicians todiagnose, monitor and treat complex eye conditions. As technology has advancedand the imaging service is expanding this is a rare opportunity to join aknowledgeable and technically skilled team. Main duties of the job

Thisrole will provide comprehensive diagnostic services to the Eye Infirmary aspart of the imaging team.

Weare looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic individual with akeen interest in learning and developing. You should hold a degree levelqualification in Clinical Photography/Ophthalmic Imaging or equivalentexperience.

We are a very busy, faced paced service so you should be ableto work calmly and confidently under pressure.

Youshould be technically minded, show a keen attention to detail and demonstrate astrong commitment to high standards of patient care. You should have a passionfor patient-centred care and demonstrate behaviours that reflect our trustvalues. You will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary teamand should have experience and skills in teamwork and be able to demonstrateyour ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The Ophthalmology Directorate, within whichthis post is based overall comprises 282 staff from a diverse set ofprofessional backgrounds working into a number of sub specialities including:Cataract Treatment Centre, Theatres, Diabetic Retinal Screening, Eye EmergencyDepartment, Macular, Paediatrics, Optometry and Orthoptists who provide a rangeof services within the inpatient and outpatient settings.

The service currently operates Monday toFriday 8am 8pm; however the occasional weekend working may be required tosupport service elective recovery.

To support in providing a professional cost effective, efficient clinical and non clinical photographic service using digital technologies to service the Trusts three sites.

To ensure a high technical standard to aid in clinical assessment, patient records, teaching, research and publication purposes.

To perform administrative tasks as necessary for the efficiency of the service.

Accountable to department head.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

BSc in Medical Illustration / or equivalent experience. Registrable qualification in clinical/ophthalmic photography (PgCert Clinical Photography)

Desirable

IMI or OIA membership

Experience

Essential

Minimum of 1 years experience working within an ophthalmic photography department Competence with SLR camera photography

Desirable

Evidence of understanding of the NHS

Skills and Knowledge

Essential

Have demonstrable computer skills and familiarity with ophthalmic imaging software (Heidelberg, Topcon etc.) Demonstrate the ability to work in a team. Desire to learn. Ability to prioritise own work load The candidate must have a high level understanding of matters surrounding confidentiality, consent and data protection in a healthcare setting. Ability to communicate health related information in an understandable way to patients and colleagues, adapting communication style to meet individual needs. Basic skills of empathy and reassurance The ability to undertake self-directed study to enable completion of any further training in an efficient and timely manner.

Ability with Adobe Photoshop and video editing software Willing to undertake further training related to the role
