Southampton, United Kingdom Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Job summary

Are you passionate about supporting young people with mental health needs? Are you an innovative and creative practitioner keen to deliver quality assessment and impactful treatment interventions?

If this sounds like you, New Forest CAMHS are seeking dynamic and innovative Band 6 Community Nurses (all cohorts with relevant experience) or Mental Health Practitioners (Occupational Therapist or Social Workers) to join our friendly, experienced and highly motivated team to work with children, young people and their families presenting with significant mental health disorders who have been accepted into the service.

You will need to demonstrate a commitment to learn and develop your skills to deliver high standards of timely and responsive care to young people and their families. You will have an identified clinical supervisor to guide and support your development with knowledge and skills for the role and have regular clinical and line management supervision and annual appraisals.

Main duties of the job

You will use your specialist knowledge and skills to join the MDT to undertake quality mental health and clinical risk assessments and deliver therapeutic evidenced based interventions, individually and as a group facilitator. The role will include working across the team duty service and completing assessments for children with suspected neurodiversity (ASC & ADHD) and may involve supporting ADHD medication monitoring clinics.

You will be confident in managing duty calls into service and be competent to complete prioritised reviews and liaise and engage with clinicians from other teams and partner agencies to encourage collaborative working to provide support around a child or young person.

This role also holds the expectation to clinically supervise junior staff and act as a practice supervisor or assessor to students on placement with us.

About us

Southern Health is one of the largest NHS Foundation Trusts in the UK, specialising in mental health and learning disabilities, as well as offering physical health community based services.

With a workforce of more than 7000 and a footprint that spans more than 200 sites across Hampshire, we're wholeheartedly committed to providing the best possible healthcare, reaching a range of diverse communities, whilst placing patients and staff at the forefront of all our endeavours.

We are currently working closely with other NHS Trusts to integrate all our collective community, mental health, and learning disability services. Our new organisation, to be known as Hampshire and Isle of Wight NHS Foundation Trust, is set to launch in July 2024.

The transformation will happen in staggered stages; Hampshire CAMHS, part of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust joined Southern Health in February 2024, with Isle of Wight NHS Trust mental health and community services transitioning in early May 2024. The final combination of Southern Health and Solent Trusts is anticipated to occur in July 2024, when the new organisation will be formed.

Our new Trust will continue to cater to the unique needs of different communities, making healthcare across the county more accessible, as well as offering staff more opportunities for career development, training and partnership working.

Join us as we embark on this exciting journey to shape the future of healthcare in Hampshire.
