Theprimary goal is to enhance early-stage diagnosis and improve survival rates.TIC Health is proud to be delivering the Lung Cancer Screening Programme acrossNorfolk and Waveney in partnership with the NHS, beginning early next year.

In this key role, you willcontribute directly to delivering a high-quality, patient-focused service. Thisincludes conducting effective Lung Health Check (LHC) risk assessments tosupport patients throughout the screening process. Virtual LHCs will be conductedfrom our Lung Cancer Screening offices in Yate, near Bristol, whileface-to-face assessments will be provided by a dedicated team of specialistnurses on mobile CT units in Norfolk and Waveney. These risk assessmentsidentify high-risk patients who may need a low-dose CT scan, with the programmeaiming to diagnose one case of lung cancer each day of screening.

This role also involvessupporting patients and making referrals for CT scans as needed.

Main duties of the job

This role is essential to delivering a high-quality, effective lung cancer screening programme aimed at early diagnosis of lung cancer and other lung diseases.

As a key member of our team, you will provide patient-centred care by conducting Lung Health Check (LHC) risk assessments virtually over the phone. Your core responsibilities will include:

Delivering specialist nursing advice and support. Referring patients for Low Dose CT scans, following IR(ME)R training and accreditation. Reviewing prior imaging records before making CT referrals. Operating both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Participating in audits and data collection activities to ensure programme quality. Educating patients and carers on health promotion, offering brief smoking cessation advice, and referring to local services as needed. Supporting team members and upholding high standards of patient care. Providing culturally sensitive care that meets the diverse needs of patients and families. Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure a seamless patient care pathway. Communicating effectively with clinicians as required.

Job responsibilities

This role will be fundamental to the delivery andrunning of a high quality and effective Targeted Lung Health Check servicewhich will identify asymptomatic people, providing early diagnosis of both lungcancer and other lung diseases.

As a core member of the team, you will deliverpatient-centred care by conducting LHC risk assessments virtually.

Your key responsibilities willinclude:

Providing specialist nursing advice and support.

Referring patients for Low Dose CT scans followingIR(ME)R training and accreditation.

Reviewing previous imaging before CT referrals.

Working autonomously as well as within amultidisciplinary team.

Engaging in audits and data collection.

Educating patients and carers, with a focus onhealth promotion and offer very brief smoking cessation advice and onwardreferral to local services.

Supporting team members and maintaining highstandards of care

To undertake and promote practice sensitive to theneeds of patients and families from multicultural backgrounds.

If required, attain, and maintain ARTPaccreditation to provide micro-spirometry.

To work with other healthcare professionals toensure a seamless pathway for patients

Communicate with clinicians, as necessary.

Ensure the safety of members of the public andstaff members visiting the community sites.

Contribute to the efficient use and utilisation of resources.

Act onclinical findings and as a resource for escalation within the team in a timelymanner.

Adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of Conduct andassociated guidelines.

Maintain relevant professional registration.

Report any accidents/incidents or ill health, failings in premiseequipment or personal protective equipment.

To take care of their own safety and otherswho may be affected by their actions or omissions.

Maintain appropriate record, adhering to Nursing and Midwifery Counciland the TIC Health guidelines on record keeping.

Report clinical and non-clinical incidents throughthe TIC Health reporting system.

Co-operate with their managers to maintainsafe systems and safe workplaces.

Adhere to TIC Health and Departmental Health andSafety policies and use any equipment or personal protective equipment providedto ensure safety.

Experience

Essential

Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner Provide clinical judgement, and decision making in clinical practice. Ability to manage and prioritise own workload, and that of the team An understanding of current issues relating to the NHS and cancer care. A knowledgeable Clinician with the ability to apply evidence-based practice. Excellent IT skills Possess a working knowledge of respiratory equipment inhalers, spirometers Involvement in the services, service improvement, implementation of new or other healthcare changes Experience of developing patient information material Understanding of health inequalities. Knowledge of the lung cancer pathway Respiratory nursing experience Participation in audits Able to assess and complete risk assessments-works with the team to put plans in place to mitigate this Works within scope of practice and adheres to nursing code of conduct Adheres to evidence-based practice, guidelines, and policies. Understanding of audit and compliance
