Assistant Buyer

Leidos is a global technology business, from our site in Wickford we supply tooling used in automotive production. As an Assistant Buyer , you will play a pivotal role in purchasing parts and materials used in our production.

Responsibility of the Assistant Buyer

To carry out the effective procurement of materials and services in-line with the business needs Ensure that all items for procurement are within the relevant budget and comply with all appropriate strategies, raising any anomalies with relevant colleagues Negotiate with suppliers to reduce Project Spend Monitor relevant Engineering releases, requisitions and follow up with manufacturing Monitor and appropriately report cost and delivery performance against the relevant budgets and timing plans Identify new resourcing opportunities through market research or by other means Identify expediting needs, and investigate any invoice, cost or quality queries Attend project reviews as required, equipped with all relevant delivery information Monitor and managing supplier performance in accordance with agreed KPI’s

About You

Previous purchasing experience, ideally within the manufacturing sector.

Strong sense of urgency & attention to detail

Analytical skillset with a methodical approach to problem solving

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels

Good working knowledge of MRP systems & Excel
