Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant
Location: Lewisham
Salary Range: £95 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start time: ASAP
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a primary schoolin Lewisham. This rewarding opportunity gives you the chance to make a lasting difference by supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them thrive academically, develop personally, and excel in their future journey.

About the role:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with primary-aged students with a variety of needs, fostering their development and ensuring they have the best possible learning experience.

Responsibilities of the SEND Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Deliver individualised support to students with SEND, both in small group and one-on-one settings, ensuring their unique learning needs are met.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), adapting lesson content and strategies to accommodate diverse needs.
  • Cultivate a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student confidence, independence, and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher in lesson planning, ensuring effective classroom management and tailored support for SEND students.
  • Monitor, assess, and document student progress, liaising regularly with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Foster social integration and emotional well-being through proactive, empathetic support and engagement with students.

Requirements of the SEND Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant, preferably with SEND students.
  • Strong understanding of SEND strategies, including Autism, ADHD, or Speech and Language needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Ability to remain patient, empathetic, and adaptable in challenging situations.
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a CACHE Level 2/3 or equivalent, are desirable but not essential.

To work with GSL Education as a SEND Teaching Assistant (TA), you need:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
